We have recently acquired this unusual Whitefriars paperweight. The person we bought it from had shown it to Brian Slingsby, former technical director at Whitefriars and he commented that it was a trial of a selenium based red ground. It has a Whitefriars cane and a 1977 date cane like the Royal Commemoratives. It is large at 3.2 inches, unfacteted and makes a nice unusual paperweight.
